Svalbard Seed Vault

I had just assumed that someone would have been doing this anyways. Storing the biological records of this planet’s inhabitants – humans and otherwise – would seem rather important, n’est pas? Anyways, came across this today that there is a rather impressive storage facility in the Arctic managed through an agreement between the Norwegian government, the Global Crop Diversity Trust and the Nordic Genetic Resource Center.

Once the Monsantos of the world are done decimating the genetic diversity of the planet’s agricultural food chain and wringing every last cent out of the world’s farmers we will be thanking our lucky stars that this vault is around.
